| In 1989 Master Brazier began his sixteen years of training Tang Lang Quan in Taiwan, mostly under the tutelage of Shi Zhengzhong. Under Shifu Shi Zhengzhong of Taiwan, Kevin Brazier trained several Praying Mantis boxing styles such as Secret Door (Mimen), Eight Step, Plum Flower, Taiji Mantis and Seven Star. In addition, he is a researcher on Tang Lang Quan history and techniques. Master Brazier now resides in Tampa Bay Florida and teaches Peng Lai martial arts. | ||||

Shifu Jim Smyer began training in Chinese martial arts in 1974. Over the past 30 years, he has studied different martial arts. Shifu Smyer is currently teaching Peng Lai Martial Arts in Nashville, TN. Shifu Smyer chose to study Peng Lai to take his many years of training to the next level. After seeing His older Kung Fu brother Steve Ottaviano improve tremendously, he decided to part ways with Hua Lin. It is said, "If you do not reach the mountain peak, you will not comprehend the magnificence and grandness of the mountain." |

| Shifu Matt Melton began studying martial arts in 1981 as a high school wrestler. A year later he started learning Hung Gar and over the years has trained Lung Shou Pai, Modern Arnis, Long Fist, Tai Chi, Xingyi, Bagua and Northern Praying Mantis. He has also trained and competed successfully in jujitsu. After opening Asheville Martial Arts in 2001, he wanted to continue his study of Chinese martial arts by focusing on Northern Praying Mantis and found a home with Peng Lai through Shifu Kevin Brazier and the gracious invitation of Shifu Jim Smyer. |

| Shifu Sam Smith began at the age of 7 in Karate. He has also studied Judo, Tae kwon Do, Jui Jitsiu. After this he moved to the Hua Lin temple where he began training up to 8 hours a day. He stayed at the Hua Lin Temple for 6 1/2 years. He then opened his school in his home town Bowling Green Ky. After a year of teaching he began training with ShiXiong Jim Smyer. He now trains under Master Kevin Brazier. |
